Shift Leader
To organize the safe and efficient operation of the facility on a shift basis, including preventive and first aid maintenance (out of normal hours);
To take immediate charge in emergency situations;
To ensure his shift team comply with their responsibilities as defined in the integrated health, safety, environmental and
quality management system (including full compliance the site Permit to Work and supporting systems)
Comply with the company integrated health, safety, and environmental management system
Ensure all personnel under his control are familiar with health and safety requirements affecting them.
• Observe operations on the shift periodically and take appropriate action to correct any deviations
• Ensure facility regulations in respect of emergency shutdown systems (trips) are implemented on his shift, including routine testing, override system management and reporting of incidents
• Direct the work of the Shift Personnel
• Ensure all personnel under his control are familiar with environmental requirements affecting them
• If required, observes pre-commissioning and commissioning activities (by EPC and or 3rd party commissioning
Contractor). Observes activities such as air blowing/nitrogen purging of lines and if nominated, witnesses, and signs off completion of pre-commissioning and commissioning tasks
• Observe operations and environmental management and control activities on the shift periodically and take appropriate action to correct any deviations
• Propose training programs to correct any shortfall in understanding or compliance
• Demonstrate skill in operational risk assessment and Hazard Identification.
Plan operations to meet production requirements
• Co-ordinate planning activities across all sections of the facility
• Ensure sufficient operating manpower is available at start of shift
• Establish and communicate daily plans to shift team
